ChangeMaker Studios Featured by BBC: Encouraging diversity in the creative industry

We’re thrilled to announce our ChangeMaker Studios feature with the BBC, highlighting the transformative coaching and mentoring work we do through our workshops.

The BBC Feature: A Glimpse into Our Workshops

Changemaker Studios hosted a interactive based workshop with college students, led by founder Amar Hayer. Televised on BBC along with an online BBC article providing an in-depth look at our recent workshop. The half day coaching sessions was designed to upskill, empower and inspire young creatives with creative career options and educate them on opportunities through filmmaking and content production. The feature delves into how the workshops are not just about teaching video production and video marketing skills but about fostering creativity, confidence, and pursuing alternative career options.

By integrating hands-on learning with professional insights, we ensure that students leave with both the technical skills and the inspiration needed to get started in their next career steps. The feature includes interviews with some of the workshop students, who share their experiences and the impact the workshop has had on their personal and professional growth.

Behind the Scenes: What Makes Our Workshops Unique

At Changemaker Studios, we believe video production is a powerful tool for storytelling and social change. Our workshops are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and impactful. Here are some key elements that set our creative mentoring workshops apart:

  • Hands-On Learning: Students are able to work with professional-grade equipment and software, gaining practical experience that is crucial for their development.

  • Expert Guidance: We provide personalised coaching and feedback to every student group involved, ensuring that each participant can reach their full potential.

  • Community Building: We foster a supportive and collaborative environment where participants can network, share ideas, and form lasting connections.

  • Focus on Impact: We encourage students to use their skills to create content that can drive positive social change, reflecting our core values and mission.

North Hertfordshire College hopes the sessions, led by self-taught filmmaker Amar Hayer, will encourage young people to consider different career options.

Participant Testimonials

The BBC article features several testimonials from our workshop participants. Business student Fatima Belakehal, 18, said ‘'I was interested in "content creating… Seeing someone who's South Asian it does make me think, maybe I can be the first Arab".

Another participant, John Smith, mentioned, "ChangeMaker Studios provided a platform where I could experiment, learn, and grow. The supportive environment and expert guidance were invaluable."

Looking Ahead: Continuing Our Mission

Being featured by the BBC is an incredible honor and motivation for Changemaker Studios to continue our mission of empowering people through storytelling. We’re committed to expanding our workshops and reaching even more aspiring creatives, helping them to fulfil their potential and make their mark on the world.
